Thank you for visiting my website. I appreciate that you are taking the time to learn more about me and about my campaign to become your state representative in District 40.
Why am I running for the state Legislature? Because I firmly believe that government spending should be placed under a microscope: In short, Michigan needs to be put on a diet. At present, there are only 13 state governments holding the prized AAA bond rating, and Michigan is NOT among them!
Most of us are learning to downsize in our homes and businesses because of the realities of our economy. Our state government needs to do the same.
I am proud to be completing my third term as an Oakland County Commissioner. I am part of the team – led by County Executive L. Brooks Patterson -- that has protected our AAA bond rating, an accomplishment that fewer than 50 counties nationwide can claim.
I have taken a magnifying-glass approach to examining all of our county budgets. Now, with the voters’ permission, I want to transfer Oakland County’s winning formula to our state government.
I’m not running because I need a job. I’m a lifelong resident of our community who cares deeply about balanced budgets and living within our means. I graduated from Bloomfield Hills [Andover] High School and also from Michigan colleges and universities. My wife, Wendy – an Oakland County Circuit Court Judge – and I have raised our two daughters here in Birmingham.
You can read more about my experience and credentials on this website. Please examine my record in office and the list of outstanding citizens supporting my candidacy. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me. I very much value your comments and opinions.
Please don’t forget to vote by absentee ballot or at the polls on Tuesday, August 7th. Thank you for your consideration of my mission to put Michigan on a diet.
